Merriment shines in their stunning new video from 'Tremendous Love'

 

    I've been listening to the band Eisley since the release of their 'Marvelous Things' EP. In all those years I had the privilege of watching their younger sister Christie work on finding her voice. Just a short time ago she joined her brother Colin and formed the band Merriment. The band released their first full length album 'Sway' this year, and it is just as magical as you'd expect from a member of the Dupree clan. Their new video for "Tremendous Love" is absolutely beautiful, and keeping with the family, it was directed by brother in law Darren King. Do yourself a favor and watch the video below.     The boys of Kasabian have released the video for their new single from their album "48:13." The video for 'Stevie' is a very intriguing mini movie. I am in love with this song and its one of my favorites from the new album. Check out the video below. What do you think?

   September Girls, a kick as group of ladies from Dublin, has released their new video for their single 'Veneer'. I am in love with the video, it speaks to my love of dark, creepy things, not to mention it's filled with some awesome music. Check out the video below. It's definitely one to get you into the Halloween spirit! 

New music from Marina and the Diamonds! I repeat, there is new music from Marina and the Diamonds!!!

 

        Lots of great music in the past week, and definitely not least Marina and the Diamonds. This lovely lady dropped her new single 'Froot' on Friday and it's just as fantastic as previous Marina records. Check out the cute video that was released, and stay tuned for hopefully more new music news from Marina. 

Blondfire's new video is the stuff dreams are made of

 

    Blondfire has released their video for the single  'Young Heart' and it is the dreamiest video I've seen in a while. I've had the pleasure of seeing Blondfire live twice in the past year and a half. I must say they are a lot of fun live not to mention that I wish I played guitar just so I could have one as kick ass as the glittering beauty Erica plays.     Several weeks ago I featured Young Kato's 'Sunshine' as my song of the day over on my Instagram. Since then they have been receiving plenty of air play on Xfm.     The Liverpool band Etches have released their new video for the single 'Ice Cream Dream Machine'. The video features a number of individuals making the most of their respective ice cream cones. While the video is slightly disturbing, you can't deny that the song is pretty darn good. Check out the video for yourself below. What do you think?

Tacocat teaches us how to DIY a Hawaiian vacation in their new video!

 

      Tacocat first came to my attention a few months ago when I heard their incredible song 'Crimson Wave'. I was instantly hooked from that moment on. Tacocat have released a new video for their single 'Bridge to Hawaii' and it has me desperately wanting to DIY my own Hawaiian vacation.      If growing up you were a fan of Kill Hannah, the voice behind Wrongchilde should sound familiar. Former Kill Hannah front man Matt Devine's solo project Wrongchilde will be releasing its debut album on September 16 entitled 'Gold Blooded' and I am really excited for this one. Jesse Jo Stark drops new EP and music video. I couldn't be happier!

 

      Not only did Jesse Jo Stark release her 'Down Your Drain' EP this week, she's released a fantastic video for her single 'Baby Love'. The video is reminiscent of a John Waters film, which was intentional, and I am loving the EP. Check out the video below and download your copy of 'Down Your Drain' from iTunes.

Skating Polly reveal a softer side in their new video 'A Little Late'.

 

   It's been just under a year since I was completely blown away by the young ladies of Skating Polly. I had the absolute pleasure of seeing them open for Kate Nash when she played The Metro, here in Chicago, last November. They may be young, but there is no lack of talent in these two. If you haven't heard of Skating Polly I highly suggest you take some time and get familiar with them, even Viggo Mortensen is a fan! This week Skating Polly released the new video for their single 'A Little Late' in which Kate Nash makes a cameo. The video is absolutely beautiful, and showcases the immense talent that these ladies possess. Check out the video below then go and download your copy of their latest EP 'Fuzz Steilacoom'. You won't be disappointed.

Album news from The Preatures, and a new single

    The Preatures have announced a September 26th release date for their debut album 'Blue Planet Eyes'. This is of course the release date for their native Australia, but the band is promising an American release date shortly after. To fill the void enjoy a listen to the band's new single 'Somebody's Talking' below. 

The awesome news, Gerard Way is going on tour. The bad news...

 

    He's not coming to Chicago. I'm definitely bummed that he's not coming here, but all of you lovely people on the east and west coasts have the privilege of seeing Gerard Way perform live. I'm hoping the album release will lead to more dates being announced soon. Until then I'll have to wait patiently for the new album. Big News For All Us Betty Who Fans...

 

        Today Ms. Betty Who announced some BIG news. Her debut full length album, entitled 'Take Me When You Go', is set for release on October 7th. So mark your calendars! 

The new video from YYZ has landed, and it's kinda great!

 

      YYZ has released the video for their catchy single 'I Wanna Be With You' today on The Huffington Post Canada. All of us 90's kids out there will truly appreciate the video's adventure through classic video games such as Pac Man. I'm loving this video and the song is the perfect song to listen to on a night out. Check out the video and tell me what you think!

       Stacy King's side project, with husband Darren King, is back with a new EP entitled 'Loner'. Their new single 'Young and Free' has been posted to Spotify, and the EP is available for pre-order on iTunes. I highly suggest you take a moment and listen to this hauntingly beautiful music. I made sure to listen to the preview on iTunes, and was almost brought to tears inside a Dunkin Donuts. Stacy's voice hits a nerve more deeply than most ever have for me. Gerard Way Makes His Solo Debut With The Release Of 'Hesitant Alien'

 

   Like millions around the world, I was heartbroken at the news of My Chemical Romance's split. I just couldn't fathom that the genius behind such albums as 'Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge', and 'Black Parade' would be no more. We can all jump for joy over the fact that Gerard Way is making a come back.On September 30 Gerard will release his first solo effort entitled 'Hesitant Alien'. From what I've heard so far I believe it is going to be one incredible album. Check out the little sneak peak Gerard posted for us, and start saving those pennies, you won't want to miss this album.

   Earlier this year Wild Beasts released their new album 'Present Tense' and I was hooked immediately by their AMAZING song "Wanderlust." I had the privilege of watching them from my work post this year at the Pitchfork Music Festival and I was impressed by their set. Now they're back with a dreamy new video for their song "Mecca." I'm loving this track and the video fits the tone perfectly. Check it out below and I highly suggest you check out their new album. It's worth a listen. What do you think of the video?

IAMX and Gary Numan join forces to create music video PERFECTION!!!!!

 

    For those of you who don't know, I am in absolute awe of Chris Corner, aka IAMX. He is not only a music genius but a visual one as well. Yesterday saw the release of his long awaited directorial for artist Gary Numan. The song is called "I Am Dust" and is taken from Numan's new album 'Splinter (Songs From a Broken Mind)'. I have always been drawn to the dark and morbid which is exactly what this video has plenty of. Give the video a watch and let me know what you think. I can honestly say is is one the most stunning videos I've seen in quite some time. Chris Corner continues to amaze me.

Warpaint Cover Duran Duran's "The Chauffeur" For Amnesty International

 

    The incredible band that is Warpaint have joined the slew of talented artists covering Duran Duran for the album to benefit Amnesty International. We've already heard covers from artists such as Beliefs, and Moby which were all fantastic. Warpaint has covered the track 'The Chauffeur' and it's sounding pretty great if I do say so myself. The album is being curated by Manimal Vinyl and released through Modern Records and it's benefiting a great cause. This one is shaping up to be an impressive cover album so make sure you get your copy of 'Making Patterns Rhyme: a tribute to Duran Duran' when it is finally released on July 15th. Eliza Shaddad EP Stream

 

    A few short weeks ago I was listening to Xposure with John Kennedy on XFM, as I do pretty much every day, and I was introduced to a talented young singer by the name of Eliza Shaddad. Her single 'Waters' really hit me and I instantly looked her up online and made sure I kept track of her. Shaddad's debut  EP 'Waters' is streaming live right now on BEAT Magazine's webpage for all to enjoy. If you have a minute I highly suggest giving it a listen because it is absolutely beautiful!      The debut EP from U.K. artist Pawws, 'Sugar', is streaming on Billboard ahead of its June 16th release. We Are Done

    If you haven't heard already, Benji and Joel Madden are back! The former Good Charlotte boys have released their newest single 'We Are Done' as The Madden Brothers, and it is the perfect summer song. Like many people my age, I grew up listening to Good Charlotte, and I can honestly say they are one of the bands that really got me through some of the most difficult years of my life. The years I've spent missing Good Charlotte are being made up for with this one. I will admit the first listen had me a little torn on whether or not I liked it, but after a few more listens I can say I'm hooked. It has this great retro, summer sound and I can't get enough. Youngblood Hawke at Manifest Urban Arts Festival

Columbia College Chicago booked LA band Youngblood Hawke to play the main stage at this years Manifest Urban Arts Festival. While the day proved to be a gloomy, cold and rainy day, the band put on an amazing show. I took some video while the band performed, and I'll admit it's not that great, but feel free to check it out. I look forward to seeing them again soon, and hopefully in better weather conditions.
